What is your corporate portrait saying about you?
Imagine this for a moment; your images speak for you even when you are not there!
In today’s content saturated market it only takes 3 seconds to capture your audience’s attention. Your images should look as genuine and professional as everything else that you provide for your customers because:
A good image psychologically builds trust and it humanises your brand, naturally more people connect with you.
An image that does not represent who you really are can be misleading – especially when there is a big difference between the perception of you through your image, to the real life you. You need to look natural and confident, not false or fake.
Start thinking about your current images. Are they up to date? Do they have feeling? Do they show you in your best possible light?
Will Rogers famously said “You never get a second chance to make a first impression”
With that in mind here are 3 ways to make sure your corporate portrait truely represents who you are;
1. Represent yourself in the best possible way.
You need to think about dressing appropriately for your business and your personal brand. First impressions count with your your photo just as much as they do when meeting face to face. This is your visual impact and impact is everything!
Do. Imagine you are meeting your most important client and you want to impress them. How would you present yourself; clothes, hair, makeup, style? Spend some time in front of a camera varying your expressions and angles prior to your photo shoot. Understand and know what looks good (and what to avoid). Hair and make up is essential, you don’t need a glamour shoot makeover, however it’s worth organising for your hair and makeup to be done by a professional as these images are going to be used for the next couple of years.
2. Hire a professional photographer.
iphones have come along way, but they still don’t compare to a DSLR camera, lighting and skills that only an experienced professional photographer can bring.
Do. Trust that your photographer only wants to make you look your absolute best and has the eye to capture this to help make you stand out from the rest.
3. Update your profile image every 1-2 years
Just as it’s no longer good enough to have an unresponsive website these days, It’s damaging having an image of you from 5 or 10 years ago.
Do. Think about updating your profile image every year, potentially in November or December. What better way to start the new year with a fresh and updated portrait across all of your social marketing. It shows that you are up to date, organised and constantly ready to evolve. Making sure the images people see of you on the Internet and in your marketing, PR and sales material has never been more important.
